Aaron and Sonia Fishman Foundation for Yiddish Culture

Thanks to the generosity of the Aaron and Sonia Fishman Foundation for Yiddish Culture, Yugntruf this year can offer 5 full scholarships to US university students to this summer’s Yidish-vokh (“Yiddish Week”) retreat in Copake, NY, USA (August 14th-August 20th).  These scholarships cover room, board, and activities fees, but not airfare or related transportation expenses.

Applicants must be North American undergraduate or graduate university/college students between the ages of 18 and 25 who speak Yiddish at an advanced beginner level or are native Yiddish speakers.

After filling out our online application form applicants must participate in a short telephone interview to confirm their sufficient fluency in Yiddish.

Those who have previously received the Benyomen Shekhter Foundation Scholarship may now reapply.

Scholarship for Eastern-European Youth

Thanks to the generosity of the Max and Anna Levinson Foundation, Yugntruf – Youth for Yiddish will offer 1 fully-paid scholarship (including travel) to our Yidish-vokh (“Yiddish Week”) retreat in Copake, NY, USA (August 14th –20th, 2019). Only Yiddish-speaking youths between the ages of 18 and 30 from an Eastern European country are eligible to apply.*

The stipend will cover full round-trip travel expenses to the United States and to Yidish-vokh, as well as room and board and all activities. Applications will be accepted until Tuesday, July 2nd 2019, by online application.

*For the purposes of this stipend, Eastern Europe will be defined as: Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Ukraine. Apply now!
